A nice shoulder rank tunic to a Major G E F Torrey formerly of the Liverpool Pals. Tailors label dated July 1918. Military Cross winner 1917. Complete with all brass staff officer buttons and staff collar tabs. In very good condition. (Couple of tiny holes to chest pockets: possibly caused by sharp pencil and upper right back). Made from a medium weight wool. Chest size 38 inches.
Major Gerald Franklin Torrey, M.C., was born in 1883, married in 1915, and died in 1949. Gerald was assistant manager of the White Star Line and the family had strong Liverpool connections. He joined the 17th Service battalion, Kings Liverpool Regiment (1st Liverpool Pals) in 1914
