A named WW1 Pith 'Wolseley' other ranks sun helmet to a soldier of the 14th Hussars. Ink marked H/47515 XIV H WRM. Sergeant William R Mitchell (number 5411 and 47515) was a regular soldier serving in India. His unit the 14th Hussars set sail from Karachi to Mesopotamia arriving in Basra in November 1915.
The helmet is an original WW1 pith example to a soldier who saw active service in numerous battles against the Turks in Mesopotamia. It is clearly War Department stamped 154 over WD over O. Cork body is sound (A little movement to front and rear brim) Complete with leather sweat band, multiple pagri band and original black & yellow unit felt patch to the 14th Hussars. Remains of pink paper label.
